Matt Dickersheid

Matt Dickersheid is currently the Supervisor of Leadership Development at Loudoun County Public Schools.  Matt has committed his 23-year professional career to the field of education.  Prior to Matt’s current position, he has been the principal of Legacy Elementary and as an Assistant Principal at Hillside Elementary School.  Matt also served as an Administrative Intern, Reading Specialist, and Teacher for Loudoun County.  He started his career in education teaching full-day kindergarten and second grade for Fairfax County Public Schools.

Matt recently developed the new Leadership Development Academy 101 us the philosophy that…“The joy of life is constantly learning.”  This self-paced, online course gives LCPS employees an opportunity to learn leadership concepts such as being authentic, calm and consistent, and how to display courage, gratitude and trust.

“We need leaders now more than ever, which was what drew me into this position,” Matt explained, and he added the intent of Leadership Development Academy 101 is – not only to develop future leaders – but to give those currently in leadership roles support to keep them healthy and excelling.

“It’s about being excellent where you are more than anything else. People always ask me ‘What do you need to do to get to the next step?’ My number one thing is, be excellent where you are. You’ll be recognized.”
