2017 PBC Bolivia Summer Mission Pre-Blog

2107 PBC Bolivia Summer Missions Team

July 2 Pre Trip Blog

Family, Friends, and Praying Partners, It is with great excitement we are anticipating our departure to Cochabamba, Bolivia.Praise the Lord as all the needed finances for our trip have been provided, we have had highly beneficial training and preparation meetings, and all Visa’s were granted. Our final days here in the States will be spent in spiritual preparation and a LOT of packing of all the clothes and resources we are bringing with us. Today, besides our normal church services, our team got to meet Teo Alvarez. Our host missionary, Joe Holman introduced us to Teo last year, and they partner together to find, research, and organize the building/service projects. Teo is usually our lead translator; however, this time God allowed Teo the opportunity of coming to the USA, and spending time here in VA and FL. Currently he is serving as a counselor at a Christian camp, Camp Highroad. Although, we will greatly miss him being with us in Cochabamba, before he left he worked hard to set up our building project. Also, today our team was able to hear his testimony. Last year, we were deeply moved by hearing his story of how God’s love shown through a missionary lady sharing the gospel, in both word and deed, changed his life and purpose. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Our team prayer as we go this year is that our God will take all our efforts, service, and encounters and allow them to be true encounters of the Love, Grace, Mercy, and compassion of Jesus to each of the Bolivian’s we meet. Tonight, our church prayed over our team during the Pray First service focused on missions. It was a very special time, and a great encouragement to all of us. Tomorrow evening at 5pm we will meet to pack all that we’ve been blessed to bring. We’ll have a day to relax, enjoy family on the 4th of July, then bright and early Wed. July 5th, we leave PBC at 6:15am to begin the adventure God has planned for us. Please pray for us frequently. Here are some specific prayer request:

  1. Protection and safety as we travel on 3 flights, through 4 airports including an overnight (5hour) layover in Santa Cruze, Bolivia.

  2. Favor, acceptance, and welcoming by Bolivian customs officials in Santa Cruze. Specifically that they don’t give us a difficult time over our belongings, or items we are bring to share during VBS, or try to extract a bribe or other payment.

  3. Health and a quick adjustment to the Cochabamba altitude of over 8000ft.

We want to be able to hit the ground running into the ministry opportunities planned for us.

  1. Continued building of relationships and unity of our team. We need the Lord’s harmony, patience, love, grace, and a lot of laughter, too.

  2. Blessings, health, and strength for our hosts, Joe and Denise Holman.

  3. Finally, pray that we all spiritually grow deeply into ALL the Lord desires to do both in and through us during this trip. To Him be ALL the Glory, Praise and Thanks.

Our team verse is Col 3:12-17.Please feel free to read it and pray it over us daily. For the Bolivia Team,Mark Wichern
